January 30 The best music video of all timeI'll keep the video posting kick going with this...the greatest music video ever made.
Here are some reasons why:
1. Everything acted out by kittens.
including:
- Kittens waking up at 10 am
- Kittens riding a train to town
- Kittens ghost riding the whip
- Homeless kittens
- Fake kitten arms exchanging small US currency for catnip
- Kitten hallucinations
2. Director not afraid to have a human hand in the video that's supposed to be only kittens (and other baby animals)
3. Exciting story
HitchHiker's Guide Entry> Kittens
200801.30 - A domestic juggernaut of pocket-sized winsomeness, the kitten enjoys its popularity while it is still young. Anything it does during these feline salad days is usually characterized by such adjectives as "cute", "adorable" or "wicked precious", and then immediately immortalized in a calendar or your mom's shirt.
The tragedy that every beloved kitten faces is adulthood. After some time, kittens skip puberty altogether and--seemingly overnight--turn from "ooh, a kitten", into "oh, a cat...I'm allergic to cats". Kitten owners have an animal that everybody loves and has a great time with. Most cat owners, though, have an animal that is now known for shedding hair all over your sofa and chairs and suits and dresses. With adulthood, a cat develops the ability to poop into sand chemically designed to hide odor, and have the aforementioned turd smell like it's right under your nose, perhaps resting on your upper lip.
Needless to say (but I'm going to say anyway), people usually like kittens more than they like cats, but you can't have one without the other...unless you just got a full grown cat. December 02 Na Na Nana Nana Nana....Batman!
Throughout the years of the past 2 decades, Batman has been the focus of six movies. The first Batman (simply called 'Batman') was pretty good. Michael Keaton had a good Batman face. The sequel (Batman Returns) wasn't too bad, either, but you could tell it was starting to lose that Batman feeling. Christopher Walken riding on a duck with Danny Devito? Make a face that shows approval with a hint of skepticism, that's me.
OK, Tim Burton got a little carried away, so they bring in another director (or something like that, one way or another, Burton out, Joel Schumacher in). New director, new Batman (Batman Forever): Val Kilmer (but Alfred stays). Throw in some good ingredients: Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey,
You're slipping Batman...
"People like George Clooney from that doctor show, let's make him the next Batman" (Batman & Robin).
They managed to make this one worse than the one prior. The funny thing about this is that the character Bane is in this one. In the comic book, Bane paralyzes Batman by breaking his back. This movie did the same thing for the Batman movie franchise. To try and recover and continue the story would be futile.
So the Batman franchise lay dormant for about 8 years. And then, Batman Begins. "Oh, here we go again...what is this, a prequel? Good grief."
But wait. This one was good. And not just *not as bad the other ones* good. Not just *not painful to watch*. It was entertaining. A lot of people I know liked it, most of them said that was the best Batman movie of them all. They rightfully ignored any preexisting storyline that might have survived the disaster of the last couple movies. They scrapped the whole thing and just started from scratch. Everything is new, including Alfred (No! Oh, but it's Michael Caine... Oh...well, yeah, that's awesome).
The end of Batman Begins hinted toward another movie at some point in the future. That point comes in July 2008 with The Dark Knight. There's a few trailers and stuff out there at the moment, and here's an article with a behind-the-scenes video to whet your appetite. Be forewarned, the excellent journalists of the Today show use a fake, fanmade Joker picture [this is the real Joker]. Oh, and I'm pretty sure Al Roker is gay. November 18 Apology in advanceI never knew acid reflux or nervous vomiting or any gastric trouble could be so funny. You probably didn't either. Here:
Should I be worried that I find this highly amusing? The clips are from the Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job! October 07 I haven't done a trackback in a while...This is from another space I have in my favorites list...99% Pointless.
It's amazing to see how far we've come technologically. Years ago, 1 Gig of memory fell under the category of "Bigger than a bread box". Much bigger. Now 1 Gig (or 2, or 4, ...) can fit on a Micro SD card the size of my fingernail.
Quote 20 years on; the incredible shrinking Gigabyte! October 01 Talking about Pay-as-you-go TVQuote
Every once and a while, something comes along and changes our whole perspective on things, or some of it, at least. Something we thought we would never care to change, something that has become almost rooted in our lives as "how it is". But how many people will never listen to FM radio thanks to satellite radio? The iPod and other mp3 players have made portable CD players almost impractical. I never imagined I'd have no use for a regular phone jack in my home. But I have Cable internet access, Cable TV and Cable Phone service. I pay $8 per month for my phone service. And I have 3 times as many features that come with it...free long distance, Caller ID, 2 lines, online voice mail/messaging, even credit each month for international calling. I was paying $30 for just a regular phone hookup and call waiting. When I saw the deal ($200 for 2 years), I tried to find a catch to the deal and I couldn't. So I went for it. My telephone jack is now obsolete. This idea that Mike Torres brings up has the potential to have the same effect. A seemingly simple idea that works better on multiple levels. Sure, you could just find a Torrent link somewhere and download them and pay nothing. But you need to have the know-how and proper connections (aka links to the proper websites) to know where to find these and then to get the file you have on your computer to your TV. I, for one, don't mind watching TV shows on my computer, but I would rather watch them on my TV (it's bigger. There's a couch.) Also, going the way of downloading the files requires that you wait until after the show has aired and is processed by whomever makes the download available. Plus I'm not sure if it entirely legal. Personally, I don't see why such activity would be illegal...would that mean that I can't tape something on a VCR and let someone borrow that tape? Having said that, the pay-as-you-go TV would be better in the sense that it is easier to manage, reliable and inexpensive. Hopefully companies like Apple and Microsoft will continue to work to integrate their products into the average home entertainment center. They already are, so that is a good sign. I use my XBOX 360 for more than just playing games. With the proper programs, I'm able to watch TV through it, run my iPod through my stereo system, and access pictures and videos that are on my computer. Apple is renewing interest in the iPod by directing some attention towards the video capabilities of their product. Downloadable movies and TV shows are now for sale at the iTunes store. Microsoft will be doing the same thing with their new product: Zune. The idea of dropping cable altogether and only paying for what you watch becomes more of a viable option and less of just an idea. Some of the comments I got on my post about the upcoming television season made me think about this (and vice versa). A lot of you have a list of specific shows you like...which would be one reason to consider this. Some of the other things mentioned were: not having time to watch certain shows at certain times or not having the accessibilty/channels. So you use your internet access to set up downloads (I'd imagine much like a podcast, or something similar) for your favorite shows. There's no need for Cable, a dish, not even a DVR. Depending on how many shows you watch, you could save a good amount of money paying only for what you want. This kind of thing would be perfect for anybody who is looking to simplify, but it doesn't compromise everything. Yes, you lose your opportunity to *see what's on*, but not everyone cares to have that option available to them. This isn't something that is better for everybody, but it can be good for some, really good. July 26 The OfficeI don't watch a lot of TV, there's only a few shows that I actually will sit down to watch. One of these shows is the Office. Season 2 is approaching, and to get ready for it, they ran a contest for fans to make their own 20-second commercial. My friend Mike (he's the guy doing an unfortunate faceplant into Jay's armpit in one of the pool basketball pictures) and his wife entered, and their video was chosen as a finalist out of the 400+ total submissions. Three commercials will be picked out of the 10 or so finalists to air on TV, so they have a good chance of winning. Check out the video here: I'm sure he'd appreciate any comments and/or positive ratings as well. July 05 Tubing/ my first video productionOK, so thanks to my good friend the 2 GIG memory stick, I can record about 2 hours of video on my digital camera. Combine that with my iPod (that I use as a portable hard drive when I need it), and we've got the ability for me to be constantly taking video. My wonderful friends experienced that on our trip to Georgia. "Is that recording? Why?" "We're going to have to take that away from him..." I did have to delete a lot of nonsense, but I also came home with some pretty good stuff. Even a sequence of shots that I plan on making into a short, short movie. We also took advantage of the camera to take video of all of us tubing on Lake Hartwell. Instead of just putting all the videos up and linking to each one, I decided to dabble in video production. I took all the good tubing video footage and threw in some other stills along with Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out (Guitar Hero gets that song in my head...). The program I used to make the video is Muvee autoProducer 5.0. It's pretty cool, although I'd like to get into Adobe Premiere (Pro or Elements). It's easy to work with autoProducer, but it just doesn't give me the amount of customization that I want. But I'm still happy with the output...check it out: July 28 I'm a cat person.this Space has a bunch of pictures of cats - one of them looks like our cat Kimba
Most of the text is in Japanese, but there is some English. Namely 'Come on ! Tough it out!' and 'Dad is gonna get you!!'
